Enchanted Garden

The Witch Hat Atelier! Have you heard of it? I hadn’t either :-). This 8 year old birthday party started out as a Moana themed extravaganza but after speaking with the birthday girl and realizing what she REALLY wanted was a niche Japanese Manga comic book theme called “The Witch Hat Atelier” I was determined to make her unique dreams come to life.

Extensive note taking and research took place with only a few weeks before the event- we had to get down to business! Despite “Atelier” being in the title, nothing about it was French, and these weren’t typical witches as they didn’t have regular witch hats or wands. But the more we discussed, it became apparent we had a whimsical, enchanted forest vibe on our hands!

I wanted to make sure that we pulled details right from the book so that it was clear it wasn’t just a generic theme. The tassels on the place cards matched the tassels on the witch hats. We put their exact spells along with the main character on cookies, and we created invitations that mimicked the cover of the books.

Activities at kids parties are usually hit or miss. I like to incorporate at least one to have up our sleeve but often they are too excited playing to sit down and focus on something. That wasn’t the case with our potion making station, it somehow occupied the kids for hours- it was literal magic!

The Witch Hat Atelier party solidified that we can turn any theme, no matter how niche, into a beautiful unforgettable event.
